Somatic Experiencing® is a pioneering body-based approach to overcoming trauma, shock and other stress disorders.

It is the life’s work of American psychotherapist Dr. Peter A. Levine, combining the fruits of his study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics alongside over 45 years of successful clinical application.

The SE approach aims to safely release traumatic shock 'frozen' in the body at times of overwhelm, allowing for a natural transformation of both PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early childhood trauma. https://www.seauk.org.uk

IFS

IFS was developed by psychologist Richard Schwartz who as a family therapist, began to observe patterns in how people described their inner lives and the conflicted feelings or parts that resided within them. He began to see the mind as a family, and the feelings/parts as family members interacting with one another. Exploring how these components functioned with one another was the foundation for IFS and the idea of the core Self.

NeuroAffective Touch® is a gentle, body-based approach to healing the effects of developmental trauma, attachment wounds, and chronic stress.

Developed by Dr. Aline LaPierre, NeuroAffective Touch® integrates touch, somatic awareness, attachment theory, and neuroscience to support nervous system regulation and emotional healing. The approach recognises that early experiences can become held in the body and continue to shape how we feel, relate, and respond to stress throughout our lives. (NeuroAffective Touch)

By working slowly and safely with bodily sensations, emotions, and, where appropriate, therapeutic touch, NeuroAffective Touch® fosters experiences of safety, connection, and repair. Through attuned touch and Body-Mind Dialogues™, clients are supported in bringing nonverbal, implicit experiences into conscious awareness, helping to restore a compassionate relationship between body and mind and supporting greater resilience, self-awareness, and wellbeing.
